Stages of Development

This section of LifeStages is devoted to providing information about the various stages of development for children ages birth through 18 years of age. Each developmental stage has unique areas of development that are presented under the designated age ranges.

Understanding the stages of development and special issues that may arise during a child’s development, assists parents in recognizing the need to provide supplementary activities and services to address the unique abilities and/or needs of the child.
